The death of millions of sharks per year caused from finning is beyond insane. This cruel and vile ritual needs to be banned immediately. Where is the sympathy and empathy for these brilliant, beautiful and much needed creatures of the oceans? It's time the United States bans the possession, selling and buying of shark fins.

100M Sharks per year is one too many for finning. Conspicuous consumption harms the ocean ecosystem by removing apex predators that have been swimming since before the first trees took root in land. End this now.

This is a horrible act. I wish people would understand that when they do this they drown the shark. Imagine cutting off a person's arms and then tossing them in an ocean. They would drown just like the helpless sharks that succumb to this brutal act. .

I presented the affects of shark finning for my final project for my marine biology class in front of hundreds of elementary school children. I didn't get graphic, but I explained the process of finning and what it is used for (shark fin soup). All of the kids were determined to know how to stop the act and were eager to tell their friends about it. I hope this act will end soon #savethefins

Sharks have been a passion of mine since I was three years old. I was that little kid telling everyone random shark facts. To add my favorite animal in the world being hurt and killed for no reason at all is just sickening. Please stop shark finning.
