Create Restrictions on Dangerous Dog Breeds and Eliminate Irresponsible Pet Owners - Perry, AR City Limits
Many residents of Perry have noticed an increase in dangerous dog breeds that are roaming the streets unattended and have no tags to identify their owners or to show if they have been vaccinated.
My dog, Rhett, was attacked Sunday, April 10. Rhett was on my property and on a leash when a Pit Bull came onto my property. The pit bull was not on a leash and had no tags. Unprovoked and without warning, he began to attack my dog. I also was bitten and sustained injuries to my ankle and foot during the dog's attack.
I live on 2nd Ave West in the city limits. Across from my home is a family with three kids who play out in their yard regularly. They were not outside at the time the attack occurred. I shudder to think about the possible outcome had the timing been any different. This street is often occupied with young children whose parents feel a sense of security that I no longer feel after that day. after speaking with neighbors and residents I have been informed of many unsettling encounters with many dogs matching the same description - dangerous breeds that are unattended with no tags. All of the stories are being told by someone who is now frightened after these encounters.
On April 21, 2017 I am going before the City Council in Perry. I am asking them to create an ordinance in the city limits of Perry that will put strict regulations dangerous dog breeds and help to eliminate the cause of this problem - irresponsible owners,. I ask you for your support in making this change and help protect the safety of our community.
