Allotments are residential on 3 side, primary schools on the other. Seriously PPC do you need to be told. Unpleasant. Unnecessary. Obnoxious. And ridiculous in this day and age. Ban it !!!!

I find it worrying that fires are allowed right next to the schoool playground. Its a health risk!!!
Allotment holders in Longlevens are not allowed bonfires.

Totally agree. And also while we try to cut back on electricity use, burning from the allotment is a huge nuisance. We are unable to hang washing out as the smoke from the allotment causes the clothes to stink of smoke.

This has been an ongoing issue over the years. I have tried on many occasions to raise this problem and possible solutions but no action has ever been taken to prevent this. Not only does this impact on a person’s ability to breathe clean air in their own private garden but the smoke billows through open windows into the house. This in turn directly affects/worsens my existing asthma. Washing cannot be hung out during these periods as it smells of smoke. Our windows and patio doors closest to the allotments are covered in grime despite being regularly cleaned by our window cleaner. There have been many occasions when the smoke has been almost black in appearance suggesting that toxic materials are being burnt. I also find it shocking that all this is allowed to remain unchallenged when occurring regularly in such close proximity to a primary school.

I would suggest burning is allowable on specific days only after 5pm. Perhaps 2 week days and preferably when windy, only during North South wind to minimise number of residents affected.
