Petition addressed to; Everyone, death will affect us all

Inheritance tax has been in effect since 1986 and was brought in to replace capital tax. The government describe this tax as “Inheritance Tax is a tax on the estate (the property, money and possessions) of someone who’s died”. The inheritance Tax rate is charged on the estate at 40% this petition is to speak out for us all, the tax should be reduced.

Inheritance tax is something that will affect each and everyone of us, whether you are receiving an estate from someone passing away or you are the person who is passing away this will affect you and those around you. As if the loss of a loved one is not enough to have to go through, this tax then ‘takes a cut’ of what that loved one has left behind for you. There are allowances for business and charities but what about the rest of us?

A 40% tax on anything over £325,000 is ludicrous. The rate either needs to be reduced or the threshold needs to be increased. This is our loved ones hard work and effects, that they are passing onto those they have left behind to help them in their absence.

So no to 40%
