we were taught not to release the balloons so we had to throw away balloons. make balloons ecofriendly or ban them. we may littered the earth but we knew better.

I am currently working in sea turtle conservation and as a past UQ student I couldn't agree with this petition more! A completely unnecessary use of plastic.

Balloons of any sort create unneccesary waste and burden on our wildlife, but helium balloons, which have the potential to float off and not be picked up are especially dangerous. I'm extremely disappointed that UQ is still contributing to the killing of wildlife with these balloons.
Come into the future and ban these balloons UQ!

The world needs to make more environmentally sustainable choices. Reducing our use of plastics is definitely a great start to creating a sustainable future.

I wholeheartedly support this petition! There are so many other ways to advertise a brand (e.g. digital, banner, flags, paper flyers, noticeboards) or decorate a space (flowers, bunting, fairy lights, pom poms, bubbles, origami) without the need for helium-filled balloons. #balloonsblowUQ #dontletthemgo
