They're annoying, block the pathways and distract the backstage managers from their jobs. Desks have become a subject of argument and admin abuse when they have no real use. I did a small test. I checked in chatlogs for the words 'booth, 'booth check', 'decal' and 'check'. All came back with nothing. That meant that nobody had done a single booth check, yet there were around 5 backstage managers all building and arguing over a desk. So, I decided to check how long the server had been open.
