Final supporters
The Oakville Noise By-law2011-100 and addendum 2008-098 was passed on December 19th 2011 and will take effect on July 1st 2012. Under the by-law, a motorcycle cannot be operated in Oakville if it emits any sound exceeding 92 dBA (decibels) from the exhaust outlet as measured at 50 centimetres by means of a sound level meter while the motorcycle is idling. The by-law also says a one, two, five or six-cylinder motorcycle cannot be driven in Oakville if its noise exceeds 96 dBA (at 2,000 RPM). A three or four-cylinder motorcycle cannot be driven if its noise exceeds 100 dBA (at 5,000 RPM). Minimum fine of $400 to a maximum fine of $25,000 for the first offence. The maximum fine for any subsequent offence is $50,000. We, Oakville motorcycles owners, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now and ban the noise by-law for the following reasons: By-law is discriminatory as only motorcycles are being singled-out, targeted. The process can have bikers detained up to 2 hours during the testing. Businesses in towns where by-law exists will be impacted financially as fewer motorcyclists will venture there. Many bikers will reconsider their involvement in charity/fundraising organized rides. Costly as many tickets are dismissed in courts for faulty and/or improper testing procedures.

Right on Mike. " loud pipes do save lives". As we are now not the only ones out there with our headlights on anymore we need loud pipes to make our presence known. Quiet bikes just help make you more invisible
Ridiculous waste of police time. Pulling over a motorcycle testing??? How long would this take an hour. Go find the bad guys the guys selling phentanol patches and such!!
Bikes need to be heard. Who determines how loud is too loud ? How do they justify financially ruining someone over volume. ?
a lot of motorcycles are noisy from the factory or have been purchased with different types of exhaust pipes.
Noise is help to prevent the accident by car or bus, truck etc auto must watch out the motorbike for safety better than die..
