It’s interesting to note that in his ‘apology’ that he makes reference to the acts being associated to ‘biddah’ where he cites the example of tarawih and the discussion with Imam Ali (a.s). The connection is indirect but distintly is aimed at the azadari of Aba Abdillah. My thoughts led straight to the type of thinking that the wahabis are portraying and the subsequent rise of ISIS. Question had to be asked as to why he has become a wahabi sympathiser... Let’s make it very clear, along with this, his corrupted views on the concept of Taqleed, hijab, Ramadhan, masjid jamkarran, khums, and so many other views that he portrays, Arif Bata is carefully and intelligently trying to dismantle the very foundations that our faith has been built upon since the time of our Imams. People are saying that we should let him explain in direct discourse before condemning him. Remember that when an individual similar to him arose in the 80’s, Marhoom Ayatullah Khoie issued a direct fatwa to ban the person, was Haraam for individuals to engage with the person and called for all his material to be labelled as condemned. Along with this, he a distuinguised orator that can quite easily mislead the majority of lay people by his arrangement and careful use of the English language. I encourage people who may be blindly siding with this individual to refer to our respected maraja for clarification on any and all views expressed by Mr Bata.

Arif Bata is known to be receiving financial support from Canadians who are loyal to Prof Sachedina who has been “banned” by Ayatollah Sistani. This might explain why Syed Sistani appears reluctant to ban Bata for fear of further polarising the community or creating another martyr.
