Ban All Plastic Bottles, Cups, and Cans Used in IV

Growing up in Laguna Beach, and now attending UCSB, I have always had a connection to the ocean and the environment. Isla Vista has disappointed me through the horrible use of plastic bottles, cans, and cups. With Isla Vista's homes being situated right on the ocean, it deeply saddens me to see the pollution that our community part takes in.
Even with local efforts to ban plastic and minimize waste on the streets, our community still fails to be environmentally friendly. The Isla Vista community and students are so blessed and lucky to live on the ocean, so it should be our duty to protect and restore what we have been given.
UCSB is known to be a "party school", so with that, comes an immense amount of plastic drinking forms that are used regularly. Trash gets blown off the decks that the parties are being hosted on and it all lands right in the ocean. This plastic kills the animals and ecosystems that are living in the backyards of these students.
The Isla Vista Community needs to take immediate action. Together, Isla Vista can demonstrate to other college towns and communities what can happen when humans live sustainably and are environmentally responsible.
By signing this petition, you encourage the community and students to ban all plastic bottles in Isla Vista to protect our oceans and future generations. Please sign this petition!
Thank you for signing, we appreciate it!
