We, the good people of DeLand, are being assaulted by our own "government" and it has to stop! Confusing shapes (like circles) don't belong on our roads. There are already plans to replace perfectly good, simple, freedom-based intersections with leftist, Euro-commie roundabouts, and now they want to include them in new construction, too! It's madness. What's next? Same sex speed bumps? Other socialist shapes like trapezoids or, God forbid, a rhombus? WHAT THE HELL IS A RHOMBUS?!? Let's not find out, for the sake of our children. We have to stand together and speak out against confusing shapes. No one understands how roundabouts work, they might as well be universal remotes, or "the cloud" - and all this confusion will result in tragedy. Did you see that video of the car ramping right over a roundabout? His car is ruined, and that same thing is definitely going to happen to all of us if we don't take action. Who will pay for our wrecked cars? One-way circular traffic is an affront to our liberty, and evidence-based best practices have no place in America! Take a stand against any kind of change!

Speed limit concerns aside, roundabouts are definitely safer than standard intersections, there are mountains of data on this. They greatly reduce the opportunity for collisions and they slow traffic. As for confusion, once you've used one once or twice you will understand how they work (follow the road, which will curve to your left, until you turn off...pretty simple).

Roundabouts to not save lives. They only confuse the driver. Full stops don't work as seen in the accident on 44 and Grand. Traffic has to slow down at major intersections and a Traffic light does that. The speed on 44 is too high to begin with. 45 in a zone inhabited with homes and businesses is plenty fast enough.

It would be very helpful south of Deland when the new Walmart goes in. Anybody against roundabouts has no idea how they work, or been to Europe and driven one!!!! The roundabout keeps cars MOVING!!! Can you imagine the backup of cars coming into Deland with the Walmart there? Who wants to sit through multiple traffic light changes?! NOT ME!!! This cute petition was very clever, thanks, whoever wrote it!

Accidentally deleted a great comment while trying to "like" it: "the only shape I need at my intersections is THE CROSS!"

I don't think most of care for roundabouts, but statistically they prove to be safer. We're just not used to them here, even though they are common in a lot of cities in our states & I don't think that has anything to do with Europeans taking over DeLand roadways! That's pretty funny.
