As a Branch Member on the periphery of Brisbane I have often had the impression that Party Office struggles with workload at most stages of the year let alone come election time. Why is it prudent to take responsibilities and workload off engaged local members who put in the hard yards for the party? Local Branch Members understand their areas and how to campaign in them. Grassroots activism is a strength of this party and should remain so.

Don't try to fix what isn't broken. We need local branches, not only to discuss local issues, but as a point of contact for members in the area.

I am very much in favour of the local Geebung Branch having a pertinent and authoritative voice in voting for policies and candidates. If we listen and hear the local member's stories and issues we have more insight and clarity about what is useful and can then be pursued passionately and intelligently within the local community. I still see a role for a central office but let it respect the local dedicated members

I am deeply concerned about these rule changes. Equity groups are important, but so is having people involved in equity groups as branch members. Our branch is strong because of diversity.
Branches are forced to put factionalism aside and work together as part of an FEC, SEC or MEC. This all ends if these changes pass. We'll just entrench factionalism. Our branch is strong because we have people of all factions and no factions working together.
Delegates to state conference need to slow down, consult properly, explain the problem they are trying to address and explain how these rule changes solve this problem (if it exists).

As a delegate for Wright I will be voting NO to these rule changes. I represent an electorate of 7500 sq klm of diverse, vibrate and hard working branch members who fought off 34% ON polling to win the State seat of Logan & took those lessons to Longman. #ourbranchesmatter

Truly democratic processes are grounded in local communities, I opposed any change to party rules that works to centralise power into the hands of the party machine.
