I intend to do everything possible to be an advocate for the mentally ill including helping to erase the stigma attached to mental disorders.

It is so important to treat mental illness at as early a stage as possible to prevent the terrible suffering that a person has to go through unnecessarily because they don't know who to ask or where to get help. Let's continue to take the stigma out of mental illnesses and show that mental illnesses are extremely important to detect and treat early to avoid suffering for those who have it and perhaps dire consequences for society if it is left untreated until Stage 4.

I've struggled with depression since age 7 (yes, age 7). I'm 18 now, and have been hospitalized over 10 times due to suicide attempts. It's really a tough life when you have a mental illness, because so many people just don't get it or take it seriously. It's sad, but the truth is that a lot of people don't realize the severity of it until someone close ends up killing themselves.
