I have manic bipolar and have had many tramatic assaults on my life. Swxual assaults by 2 different perpetrators; grandma killed while in cross walk while walking w/her half yr. After the assaukts, robbed by 2 African males while working a yr after that, domestic violence & sister committed suicide on my bday (tomorrow 7.2.2002) @ age 22 by hanging herself. I struggle every day and see physchologists weekly, physiatrist every 6 weeks, & chronic pain as well as ptsd, mania extc. And this couldn't be a worse week in my life especially today and tomorrow.

We don't wait for a cancer to reach stage 4 before we treat it. We shouldn't do that with mental illnesses either.

How can anyone thinking person ignore this problem knowing that if they do not help it will get worse.

This is just as important as other chronic conditions, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE IS HEALTH CARE! We are so behind on mental health, addiction and trauma in this country.

How about some awareness on the problems Facebook is really causing in basic human behavior? Even legitimate Psych info based on many years of research is changed by this as it evolves or even becomes and addiction or very dangerous tool for validation of harmful behavior patters and habits. ?!?!?

My son is 28 years old and severely bipolar. We live in South Mississippi and the criminal justice system is all we seem to have here for help. I'm afraid he's going to be locked up for many years now because of something that was so obviously caused by a bipolar episode even though he didn't harm any one and he did have the means to do so

My daughter has had over 100 psychiatric hospitalizations and there is no way to get her the long-term mental health care she needs because she is always released from her inpatient stays before she is truly stable. Even with multiple suicide attempts in her life, the insurance companies cover 3-5 days inpatient and that is not long enough especially if new medications are added to the mix. It is especially sad when jail seems to be the better alternative!

Please visit my hazelsangels linkedlin account and feel free to use any info that may help. I have been a caregiver advocate for three years now. My story started with my daughter who had a sudden grandmal seizure that left her mentally ill. This could have been prevented. Also have a journey of our walk through life searching for help. Hope I can help in any way.
