Save AYSO's Use of Paul Revere Middle School

As a pediatrician as well as member of the community I would like to know the justification for a private group of 75 being given fields at a public school over 1700 students, many who go to public schools. This morning I attended a lecture which emphasized the need for ALL children for both their immediate, as well as their long term health into their old age, to participate in vigorous physical activities. By this action you decrease the health of Americans both now and in the future.

AYSO soccer at Paul Revere is one of the fondest memories I have from 39 years in Brentwood. Please don't let a business push AYSO off the field.

As a resident of Mandeville Canyon and a taxpayer I strongly urge Paul Revere to reconsider so that our local children have access to the field for AYSO soccer.

My first AYSO practice was at Paul Revere. That was 41 years ago. I have such a clear memory of that. Every time I drive by Revere I remember it. I remember the fear, the challenges, the exhilaration, the feeling of pure joy. Please don't deny this to other children.

Our kids need the fields too!!!!! Please reconsider and let's share our resources. Let's be an example to our children and community that we CAN work together and do what's right for all in out community and not just what's right for a few. Thank you.

Paul Revere is an important resource in our community, which lacks field space. For a healthy community, it's very important for children to participate in sports. AYSO has served our community for years by providing an excellent introduction to soccer to children. AYSO is a positive force in our community: kids learn the game, parents come together, and more competitive players eventually move onto club. (There are many clubs teams on the westside.) In fact, AYSO has fed the club that has taken over Sunset with many of its players (many of which, frankly, weren't good enough to make competitive Region 69 All Star or EXTRA teams...but parents have wealth and want their kids to "play club" soccer). I think club soccer is fine for more competitive players, and I think it's fine for a club team to share the the field with AYSO Region 69. But there needs to be a more open process for securing and sharing the space. Just because a small group of parents have money, doesn't mean they can secure access. A private organization has taken over a public resource. Moreover, it doesn't appear that they are taking care of the resource very well. The field has turned into a dust bowl with the club's over-use. (In my decades in the Palisades, I never remember AYSO abusing the field into a dirt patch.) I would recommend an open forum to talk through these issues.

Please re-consider allowing the AYSO soccer program to continue using the fields at Paul Revere in conjunction with the private group. Given the long history that AYSO has with the school, it's the fair and "right thing to do" to allow them to continue using the field but work with both organizations to make it fair for all considered. Thank you.

Our daughter currently plays there and soon our youngest. It is a great benefit to the community. As a Brentwood homeowner, I support ASYO and would like to see the relationship with Paul Revere to continue.

Our tax payer dollars pay for this school property and AYSO which serves the local neighborhood kids should be able to utilize these fields. Soccer is a fun, athletic experience that has social, community and health benefits for our local community children.

what a joke, for all ayso has done for the fields. club sports ruins the non profits sports organizations. most club participants are not worthy of being on a club team, the only reason they are on the team is their parents can afford it and prefer an elite status.

I played on this field as a kid and now my son will play on it this year as well. I attended Paul Revere and value the school's place in the community. Hopefully things will be worked out for everyone's benefit.

Please keep Paul Revere's available for AYSO! Both our kids played there. This is an incredibly important pillar of the community.

The Paul Revere Sunset field is an important component of the living conditions in and around its environs. Having lived nearby for 60 years I remember playing AYSO there, being a ref and then ultimately watching my kids play there. It brings a diverse group together in a manner that is the best of the community.

I find this news completely outrageous. My sons did not play at Paul Revere, but I certainly refereed my share of girls games there when I was an AYSO referee. LAUSD fields are a precious public resource that should be used for the benefit and betterment of the local community, not sold to the highest bidder, locking out a historic use. Shame on you.

As a Paul Revere alum I am disappointed that the AYSO permit was taken away and hope to see a proper public access solution at this public funded school, Paul Revere.
