Rob Coutts was a law enforcement officer for over 20 years. His most recent service was with the City of Surprise, Arizona Police Department. While on duty Rob was struck by another vehicle which ran a red light. While Rob's injuries appeared minor, he suffered a head injury that left permanent damage to his brain. Rob was examined and tested by a State of Arizona Licensed Psychologist who specialized in working with police officers. After two days of testing and examinations, this DOCTOR determined that Rob had sustained a head injury in the collision that would affect his employment as a police officer and recommended that he seek retirement. Rob struggled with his decision and reluctantly submitted paperwork seeking a medical retirement. The local retirement board upheld and supported the retirement. This recommendation was forwarded to the State of Arizona Public Safety Retirement Board and Rob thought he was on his way to starting a new chapter in his life.
After a long period of time, Rob learned that his retirement was not granted by the State Board as an attorney for the board stated that "a psychologist is not a real doctor". This was the opinion of the board attorney and not based on what was State of Arizona Law. Rob's own attorney elected not to challenge the finding due to the fact "that it may effect future cases that I will have". Rob was devastated to say the least.
Rob has fallen on some hard times and was homeless for a period.
Rob needs and is entitled to his pension, please help him out.
