Tell PETA to stop exploiting the autistic community

I have Asperger's, and find any misinformation about ASD spread by public figures or organizations highly offensive. They exploit conditions like mine for their anti-vax or vegan extremist ideals, because it causes prejudice. I'm tired of people like me being mistreated by the public for not fitting into what's considered normal. A lot of people with ASD are actually really intelligent, but we get portrayed as having the intelligence and maturity of toddlers, which is only seen in rare and very extreme cases of ASD. I think what PETA did should be seen as a mass hate crime.

It's incredible how PETA can stoop so low, not only about fake news but also about that case where they kidnapped a dog from a family and euthanized it. I knew that PETA was not well regarded, the first time I heard about it was in the Pokémon and Mario game but looking deeper this is regrettable. I am autistic, I have a little autistic brother and only those who have it or who live with and care for an autistic person know the difficulties and fears in addition to the prejudice and ignorance of many people (I am using Google translate)

It's unfortunate they need to use outright lies to push their agenda.

I am the grandfather of identical twins with Down Syndrome and Autism. PETA's exploitation of children like them with false, fearmongering claims about the cause of their condition is reprehensible. I'm going to have a few extra servings of meat this week in recognition of PETA's moral. bankruptcy. How's that for unintended consequences, you moralistic frauds?

I am a mother with a thirteen year old son with autism. In general I am a supporter of PETA. I was so disturbed by hearing of your new campaign. How dare you target all of the wonderful children and adults who are living with this disorder. This disorder already carries with it a tremendous fear and stigma in our society. If it did not then you would not be using "Got Autism?" billboards. We that face the heartache and discrimination every single day of our lives will not stand for this bigotry. Shame on you PETA. Remove the Billboard or you will see. "Got Class-Action Suit?" I would also like to see a public apology for this heinous marketing ploy that was created to sell your own form of ideological misfits. Remove the Petition. Make a public apology. Regain the respect of so many who were devastated by this discriminating and cruel message. Proud to be mother to a beautiful young man with ASD.

I am a vegan animal rights activist and i also work with kids who have autism and this is totally wrong! Please don't use autism as a scare tactic. I would hate for children to see this! It is hurtful and i am disgusted that you would stoop so low.

I am autistic. Using fearmongerin about autism is wrong. I deal with all type of things cause I am autistic. Using autism to further your cause is wrong! There is no REAL studies to back up your theory.

Normally I stay out of these sorts of things but PETA went too far this time. Not only are they vilifying autism like some kind of disease you can catch but its fear mongering at its worst. As someone who is Autistic this ad is sick and spreading misinformation.

This is a completely unacceptable ad. If this were said about any other disability, there would be a huge backlash. Imagine if it said "Got Downs?" There would be a lynch mob, and rightly so. PETA needs to retract this ad and apologize very, very publically to the entire Autism community.

I'm sorry that this isn't the first time PETA has tried using fear tactics and misinformation when it comes to recruiting the ignorant.
