The current Alameda City Unified School District (AUSD) Board Policy states that if nits or lice are found on a student, the student shall be excluded from attendance and parents/guardians informed about recommended treatment procedures and sources of further information. AUSD is considering a change to Board Policy that will allow students to remain in class if they have an inactive headlice infestation. A student having headlice eggs (aka nits) will be allowed to remain in class. Only students with an active, adult headlice infestation will be excluded from school. If you *do not* support the AUSD policy change, please sign this petition. Supporters of this petition want to keep the current policy in place to exclude students from class when headlice eggs are present.
