AU Students Call for Recommended Mask not Mandated Mask

I am Hard of Hearing and I read lips to communicate with my friends. When people wear masks, I can't lipread them. 2020 was detrimental to my social and mental health. I was so happy to hear that AU was going to only recommend masks, and now I am crushed I have face this again. I cannot participate in my classes!! While the teachers wear face shields so I can lip read, the students wear masks. I love discussions in my history classes, and masks prevents me from giving my input. PLEASE, just recommend the masks!

Masks don’t work, covid is smaller than what the masks are made for therefore they are useless

As an adult, I hope that Anderson University will allow me to be responsible for my own health.

Should be students choice

Will I comply with the mandate in affect while on campus? Yes. Will I wear a mask while grocery shopping, eating in the caf, or walking along side my classmates off of campus? No. Masks do not slow the spread of covid, and implying that your students are not smart enough to prevent the spread themselves, should make the administration at Anderson University feel ashamed of themselves. Do better AU, until then I will continue to leave every weekend and go to other school campuses that do not require masks, just to get a feel of a normal college life that I have yet to have.

It’s unnecessary when no one is required to wear a mask anywhere else. Students are going out with friends and taking it off whenever they have the chance, also no one where’s it like they are supposed to, so it’s useless
