Rezoning for dredging, stockpiling dredged material and storing dredging equipment in a residential area is contrary to Crow Wing County Ordinances. And, the request is actually for 14 or more variances, not one variance! Specific justification for any approvals is required by law. Neither Shoreland District or Waterfront Commercial zoning allows Dredging and Stockpiling which actually fall under the activity categories of Extractive use, mining, gravel pit, aggregate” and “Industrial Park”. Do not improperly approve the Leagjeld request.

We are opposed to rezoning the residential land to commercial. Why would the zoning board reward illegal activity now, by rezoning what has been done without permit for years ?Why have laws ,why have a zoning department ? The boards responsibility is to ENFORCE the codes. Protect the lakes.

This property was rezoned residential about 10 years ago, and many new residences have been built nearby. There is no justification for rezoning to commercial now. To do so would be inconsistent with the surrounding land use and detrimental to property values. While Dan Leagjold's stated plan for commercial use seems modest enough at this time (continuing to rent moorings to houseboats, as he has done illegally for years), rezoning would open the door to who knows what kind of commercial development later. The recent application for rezoning the adjacent former Driftwood resort was recently denied, and this should be as well, for all the same reasons.

Permanently rezoning this will only add to the poor lake quality on Upper Whitefish. We need to protect what little quality we have left.

I am opposed to rezoning this property as commercial. I do not want a commercial entity operating next door to my residential property.

Rezoing quiet residential parcels to commercial will NOT be good for the neighboring community. We all purchased lake lots knowing what was in surrounding our property. Opening the door for these 3 lots to be zoned commericial opens the door for others to do the same without regard for neighbors. We do not support this request.

I am concerned about the can of worms this will open if we allow commercial property in an area that is all zoned residential. Residents have bought and built adjacent to that area based on this being residential. Changing this to commercial again would not be the right thing to do .
