This rule is ridiculous. I have a job after school and sometimes I have to leave early to make it there. Its not fair to punish me for working hard.

The policy is both unfair, and unreasonable. Turns out if I crash my car and am late to school I gotta ask the guy I crashed into for a note? Nope. Stupid. Also I don't deserve this kind of policy, I got to school whenever I damn could, even when I was sick and could barely scrounge up the little strength I had to come to school with a sore throat, and horrible coughing and stuffed nose. Those days were hell, and I did it just not to take exams which I had to take anyway. (Cringe). But anyway I heard about people who would take advantage and just check in instead of coming and being tardy, well that's the schools fault for making such a dumbass policy where you are punished if you show up to school late but still earlier than those guys who just don't want to be tardy. However if anyone's actually reading this and wondering what I'm trying to say, it's that I didn't even DO what some kids did. I came to school and took my tardy cuz I didn't give a crap about em. I did my part. I followed the rules, I didn't wait just so that I wouldn't be counted as tardy, no. When I was really tardy, I was tardy, when I was really late enough to have to check in, I CHECKED IN, that's all there is to it. And now I'm getting punished? #makeBburgGreatAgain

The new attendance policy is WAY too strict. Saying that getting into a car accident on the way to school MIGHT be an excused absence is just not fair. I'm not even a senior and out of all the new rules and policies, taking away seniors getting out a couple weeks before everybody at the end of the year is one of the most bs things I've ever heard.

The new attendance policy gives little thought to the fact that school should not HAVE to be for everyone, all the time. Things happen in peoples lives that affect their attendance, and can not simply be justified with a doctor's note. In the end, if a student wants to be "in good standing," whatever that means, they will CHOOSE to attend school. But if a student is having personal issues or just simply needs an actual nights sleep once in a while, and feels forced to go to school anyways, that will build a lot of resentment that I don't think MCPS will want to deal with. That's the issue with the strict attendance policy.

The BHS Administration should offer the incentive of a more relaxed attendance policy to students in good standing, it would promote better grades while staying fair to all seniors.

Having a more loose attendance policy will better prepare us for time management in college. We will have a lot more going on, tougher classes, but more freedom with how we spend our time.
