This will do good for the community for it to go ahead. The building is well suited for a gym. And on a quite note at least that’ll be one less empty premises around the place …

The proposed facility of Atlas Barbell in Kingston will provide so much more to the immediate and wider community than a standard gym, such as Zap or Anytime Fitness. This is said not to discount the benefit these facilities provide to locals, but to highlight the contrast between a standard franchise gym and a independent local strength and conditioning facility, owned and operated by somebody with vast experience across the industry and a focus beyond themself. The owner is a selfless individual who demonstrates through his past actions and his future plans, that his focus is to provide more than just a gym for people, but create and promote opportunies to integrate and educate the wider community on the benefits of key lifestyle factors relating to fitness across different demographics and age brackets. As an individual involved with the fitness community across varying sports in Tasmania across numerous years, Kingston has always been an area lacking in this department, with recent additions only coming in the aforementioned department, franchise gyms. Atlas Barbell will fulfill this deficiency and provide more to the local community in terms of fitness than these established franchises are capable of.

We need in the community a gym. This will be a good incentive for the young ones specially, and getting them out of their chair after playing for so many hours in front of the computer.

It would great to have another gym for the community, not a big franchise that are just for the money and not the people.

This will be an asset to the Kingborough community. Australians spend an estimated $8.5 billion in the fitness industry. Which demonstrates the high demand for facilities like this. This facility will provide sporting and career pathways for youth like no other facility of its kind in southern Tas. Not to mention providing much needed expertise and support to other popular sports such as, cricket, football and soccer. I have been in the industry more than half my life and I can attest to the positive influence these establishments have. My sport has me representing Tasmania, nationally and internationally. A local gym is the only way to go. I will definitely join and as a menopausal lady in my 50ies, I look forward to seeing what is on offer.
