AGREE with previous comments. I went to East, taught at East and lived in the neighborhood most of my life. While I love the community and small school concept, I feel strongly that it is time to consider what will benefit ALL our children. Finding a balance won't be easy, many of us will have to compromise, but equal opportunities should be our driving force.

Integrating our schools across economic and social lines will benefit all students and help them grow into better citizens.

Time to quit segregating the poor population from the wealthier population.

I'm a parent of an East Elementary graduate. It's a great school, but I fully support and encourage the school board to embrace grade level buildings. Athens "City" Schools is not just about the people in the city limits. We are a school district with wide boundaries and varied needs. Let's support the students and not get lost in the status quo.

I believe that all the kids in the district should have the same opportunitys from preschool -12. If this is what it takes to achieve that. Then I will support it.

I am a retired teacher in The Athens City School District and worked at all the elementary schools. I am wholeheartedly in favor of grade level buildings.

I believe consolidated school will provide opportunities for more and improved services for students with disabilities. It also eliminates current uneven distribution of students with disabilities among four elementary schools.

I am supporting this petition because I believe in building community on fairness and facts. Not fear. I am hoping for greater and more equitable special education services.
