We the undersigned request 50% time dedicated to community use on the turf field in Washington Park (Third street between Fourth and Fifth avenues). Our children need a place to play. The field is presently being heavily and happily used on school days and weekends by children and families and teens, but permit only use is coming soon. We know teams need a place to play and we want to share the space equitably. Allow team play 50% of the time and open community use 50% of the time. We would also be happy to share this large field with 50% of the space used by teams and 50% open to free spontaneous play. Play space for kids and families and teens is an important recreational need in our community. Four hours a week open time(the present plan) is unacceptable. The Parks Department appears responsive to our concerns, please sign below if you want them to renegotiate the terms of community use on the turf field.
