Astral Weeks is committed to the complete renovation of one of Island View's blighted, classic apartment buildings. The 8 unit building at 2119 Field St, has suffered years of neglect, and the building and grounds retain many common toxins such as asbestos and lead. A significant part of this project is environmental clean up, and for that aspect, Astral Weeks has applied to the State of Michigan for the use of Brownfield funds. Per the State of Michigan:

In order to promote the redevelopment of brownfield sites, the state of Michigan provides Michigan Business Tax (MBT) credits, on a case-by-case basis, for projects that redevelop a contaminated, blighted or functionally obsolete property.

I support this project, and ask Detroit City Council to support the application for Michigan Brownfield Redevelopment funds.
