Petition Title: Call for Reforms and Transparency in the Indian Civil Services
To:
The Honourable Prime Minister of India,
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC),
Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India
Subject: Petition for Reforms, Transparency, and Inclusive Measures in Indian Civil Services
Respected Sir/Madam,
We, the undersigned citizens of India, respectfully submit this petition to bring to your attention the need for comprehensive reforms in the Indian Civil Services, which serve as the administrative backbone of our nation.
Background:
The Civil Services of India, particularly the services selected through the UPSC (IAS, IPS, IFS, etc.), are integral to policy implementation, governance, and national development. However, various concerns have been raised by aspiring candidates, academicians, and citizens regarding the following:
1. Lack of transparency in the evaluation and selection process.
2. Need for syllabus updates in line with modern administrative, technological, and global challenges.
3. Limited access to coaching and study resources for economically weaker sections and rural candidates.
4. Demand for inclusive policies and regional representation in recruitment and postings.
5. Mental health and stress among aspirants due to excessive pressure and long preparation periods.
Our Demands:
We respectfully urge the concerned authorities to:
1. Introduce greater transparency in the interview and mains evaluation process, including answer booklets access.
2. Establish free or low-cost coaching centers across all states, especially in rural and backward areas.
3. Ensure regular review and modernization of the exam syllabus to align with current administrative realities.
4. Implement measures for the mental well-being of civil service aspirants.
5. Promote diverse and balanced regional representation in both recruitment and postings.
Conclusion:

I would want to sincerely thank India's civil services for their unwavering commitment and hard work. Our government personnel stepped up to the plate during a period of extreme national hardship, guaranteeing the uninterrupted provision of vital services, the coordination of relief activities, and assistance for the military and civilian populace. Their steadfast dedication to duty in the face of adversity is a testament to the robustness and durability of our administrative structure. It is imperative that we acknowledge their contributions and give them the resources and assistance they require to keep serving the country during emergencies.
