I spent 25 years as a NYS Trooper. I can tell you from 1st hand experience that the "Safe Act" and any further "feel good" laws do absolutely nothing to stem crime, they simply punish those that abide by the law.

Regarding the new gun laws for nys:
Has anyone thought about the logistics of many of these regs?
Where will these guns be stored while waiting. Will they be returned in the same condition they were taken? Some may be costly antiques or collectibles.
If one judge does not like guns the decision will be biased.
If a hunter or a competitive shooter has to wait for someone to decide and deliver his property back to her/him, they might miss an opportunity.
Who is qualified to determine someone’s intent?
I always thought there had to be an overt act before you arrest or take someone’s property. Where is due process?
It is a grandstand play that will do nothing, or very little to make NYS safer.
Who will defend the teacher from lawsuits if they report something and it is determined bogus. Or they do not report and something happens?
I can see attorneys gearing up to make more money.
Does anyone in Albany think ahead with common sense, or listen to learned people? Does not appear that they do.
Where is the ACLU?

Second amendment rights need to be protected there is a constant erosion of rights in New York State with the burden falling In the laps of responsible gun owners. Use better enforcement of existing law.
