I believe that the persecution of Mr. Assange poses a grave threat to freedom of the press worldwide, freedom of speech and is an attack on human rights

Anybody interested in the case against Julian Assange can find the comments of Nils Melzer, Prof. Nils Melzer is the Human Rights Chair of the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights. He is also Professor of International Law at the University of Glasgow. On 1 November 2016, he took up the function of UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
Nils Melzer speaks clear words.
Julian Assange is a hero, not a criminal. And the case against him is in fact a case against free journalism. Those who listen the statments of Nils Melzer and stll wish to extradite and imprison Julian Assange must have lost their conscience somewhere on their way. Or they have other serious problems. I whish them good and fast recovery...

They are presenting Julian Assange in a glas cage during the trial in London - as if he were Adolf Eichmann! This is an outrage. Western authorities willingly tolerate torture in order to silence a man and an organisation that is trying to inform us about the war crimes that are committed with our tax money and in our name.
I am disgusted not only with the US authorities and the lackeys within the British judicial system but with everybody who claims that democracy and freedom of speech exists in the West if indeed Assange is extradited to the US!!

Please support Early Day Motion #719 in reference to Julian Assange which has been tabled by Richard Burgon and 19 MPs have given supported to it.
Early Day Motion #719 supports press freedom and public-interest journalism.
The motion notes the anti-extradition stances taken by the ‘National Union of Journalists, the International Federation of Journalists, and Reporters Without Borders’ and ‘affirms its commitment to press freedom and public-interest journalism’.
