I'm wondering what is really going on at that News Gazette knowing the tensions that are going on. What the hell?

It is disappointing a "news" organization allowed such remarks in a paid ad. It is surprising it even passed review. Besides lashing out against a large portion of American citizens, it does nothing but stir up the negativity which is already son prevalent in our society. Allowing this discredits the entire "news" organization.

I'm a firm advocate of free speech, but I also recognize that it's important for there to be reasonable consequences to certain behavior and words. This crosses a line. What was The News-Gazette thinking? The public discourse is sullied enough without the assistance of local media!

Disgusted with this is an understatement. The News-Gazette, as well as the Rockbridge Advocate (basically all published papers) in this county are a joke.

A terrible decision by the publisher of the paper. I will not buy anymore papers until an apology & reasonable explanation is made.

Yeah it is a paid ad which is even more troubling. This idiot is allowed to stop whomever he chooses from entering his property. To place an ad about it and have the paper print it is beyond egregious. What if someone took out a similar ad about women, gays or Jews? Would you be as eager to publish. This is 2015 right? We are all fully aware there are plenty of idiots that still run around. But just like a child that is having a temper tantrum, it doesn't mean you give them the attention of it or a forum to voice it.

That ad was an embarrassment to the whole community, and accepting it showed very poor judgment.

I am extremely disappointed in the utter shortsightedness of Max Paxton of the Lexington News Gazette. For absolute shame Mr. Paxton, both for your decision to take payment for the original ad, as well as your widely unsatisfactory public response to your decision. Thank you to the writer of this petition, for understanding what Lexington could (and should!) be…something that Mr. Paxton is apparently unwilling or unable to imagine.

Understand we should be tolerant of all views, but this promotes hate and is sicking. All over making a $$ on the ad?!?
