One of my favoriteplaces in the world is a public library. That is where I have access to the universe.

If we go the route of eliminating library funding, we risk the potentially disastrous results of becoming a genuinely backwater nation. Missouri itself has always been viewed as very backwards and unintellectual, but by basically reducing their funding to nothingness you're shooting any potential for the state to truly have a productive and capable future. Many of our nations Presidents rose from financial straits and they became the men they were and are today due to the help of libraries and those who wished to give them as much knowledge as humanly possible. Governor Nixon, don't ruin the opportunities that your future world leaders could have.

Why do you feel the need to endanger the many small libraries of Missouri. It isn't as if our population is over stressed by too many educational opportunities. You want to keep kids off the street? You want to keep them off drugs? then give the libraries their money and then some to cover programs that will keep them busy in a good way. You are making us look like a state of hicks who despise "learnin"

Libraries, like schools, are one of the foundations of a free and equal society. You owe better to the people of Missouri Govenor Nixon.
