Kendrick Lamar is one of today's most influential rap artists. The powerful, relevant, and socially conscious message his music conveys has influenced and affected thousands across America, but particularly America's youth. This most certainly rings true for the high school students of Homestead High School, a school situated in Cupertino, California: the heart of Silicon Valley.
To us, the students of Homestead High School, Kendrick's music has helped develop a new perception or sensibility of the true and relevant issues within America. For most students at Homestead, but particularly within the Junior Class a, Kendrick is much more than a popular and influential musician: Kendrick is an idol.
We, the Junior Class of Homestead High School, would be incredibly honored and humbled if Kendrick Lamar were to come perform for us at our Junior Prom this year on May 13th.
