This disease, CWD, is not found in Iowa wild deer. Before condemning the newborns perhaps study of hunters harvest should be done!

This is ridiculous. These animals deserve a chance. If they are sick,dont make them suffer,but if they are healthy,why do they have to die ?

I'm an Iowa licensed wildlife rehabilitator for ten years & also a member of the National Wildlife Rehabilitors Association. I would like to see scientific evidence & research results which would justify such a ban on rehabilitating white tail deer fawns. As it stands, it simply makes no sense to ban rehabilitating healthy orphaned fawns. Please listen to & seriously consider the input of the wildlife rehabilitation community. Thank you.

Obviously, they don't know what they are talking about. Wasting disease is there but not in ALL deer. Orpahed babies don't stand a chance with this new change, rehabbers know the signs and symptoms and can detect it. Leave the decisions up to the rehabbers and the ones who care for these deer. Orpahned deer do not have a chance. Rethink things . There is a difference for stepping in but another to take away the lives of wildlife who don't even get a chance and don't even have the disease. Research a bit about it. Not all deer have it. Please leave the expertise and knowledge up to the real rehabbers and the ones that take care of them.

I am a Licensed Wildlife Rehabber in WI. Interesting the the Iowa DNR is now moving to more restrictive policy on deer rehabilitation at the same time that WI DNR is liberalizing their policy.
