Federal Agency Reps & Officials: Tell FERC to do a PEIS for Virginia Pipelines

Please do the right thing!

Common sense dictates that constructing a large diameter pipeline through the Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountains is fool hardy.

The pipeline proposed for Virginia is not needed nor is it legitimate for corporations to usurp property owners rights to build this line

There is absolutely no reason that they cannot use existing easements instead of ruining our beautiful area. I will NEVER vote for any politician that is inn favor of this pipeline.

We know that the network of pipelines proposed for Virginia is not only an environmental catastrophe when they are all added together, but they also will overshoot the production capacity of the shale gas that is being drilled.

The MVP pipeline is a for profit enterprise for the wealthy 1 percent . The Commonwealth of Virginia taxpayers and landowners will get nothing. The work will be done by out of state workers from Texas and parts unknown. It will ruin the value of our farm and landscape. The destruction of habitats and damage to streams flowing to Smith Mtn. Lake doesn't! seem to bother our elected officials. Wonder where they get their money to run for office and who will they represent.

How else can public need be determined, if not by assessing regional domestic demands against all pipelines proposed for Virginia? It makes sense and it's the FERC mission.

Government is of, by, and for the people. It is not of, by, and for large corporations and their billionaire owners. Unfortunately, BIG OIL and BIG GAS companies are primary drivers of the cynicism that many Americans now feel about government. Our society is no longer a democracy when a few people at the top of the economic ladder are enabled to increase their already bloated financial worth at the expense of ordinary citizens who work hard just to maintain equilibrium. Granting the right of eminent domain to corporations with the sole goal of making money for their investors destroys trust in government among citizens. The corporations proposing the new pipelines in VA state that they will benefit VA citizens, but the pipelines in reality will damage forests that harbor endangered species and deprive landowners along the route the use of their land. This is wrong, wrong, wrong. FERC must consider the externality costs of pipelines. Gas and oil are only cheap because their full costs are not born by the companies that build the pipelines. Dominion could become a leader in solar energy, but will not while it can continue to pass the cost of its pipelines onto the public at large.

Because the Government has given the federal powers of eminent domain to multiple pipeline companies, it is like dealing with multiple governments. If they will not cooperate with each other, they should at least be evaluated together. They should not be allowed to divide the government.

Just because the pipelines would make money for developers, does not mean they are in the public interest.

I studied alternate energy resources at Virginia Tech 15 years ago. It's time to force ourselves to see the issues of an oil based energy system and truly include its COST in our evaluations of energy choices. A PEIS will help our state make this decision based on the true costs of a pipeline rather than just pretending impacts to people and land are free thus making oil the cheapest option.

In the past I have regretted not becoming involved in political or others areas that others felt were important.This pipeline will destroy the environment along the entire path.Please investigate the effects of Fracking and the consequences of the construction across such beautiful property.Please do not wait until we can not repair this land.It is sad to see our property rights so easily discarded. The lies are numerous concerning the ACP. I have been told that it will not devalue your property.If you cannot build on the track of land and your family and home is within the 1100' "high impact zone" how does this not devalue your proprty. Please act now before we can not repair the damage,please take the initiative to do what is right for all our families, home and environment

The property rights of individual homeowners should not be taken away by private companies.

Serve the public, not the industries!

Va. politicians evidently are not interested in keeping Virginia public lands beautiful and our people supplied with clean water and air.

This message is an immediate request to stop the Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP) Dominion Power is planning, and a longer term request for congress and individual states to exert more power to stop hydraulic fracturing (“fracking). The simple fact the pipeline crosses through national forests and other public land should be sufficient to stop the project. Unfortunately since this is not the case, people all across the United States are losing confidence in the environmental regulatory process, and losing the public’s voice in the use of public land. In North Dakota, truck drivers avoid these new pop up towns in the new, more dangerous wild west, don’t bring that here to beautiful Virginia. Don’t bring Ted Cruz’s big donors here to Washington DC either. Well known problems caused by fracking include contamination of surface and ground water, methane emissions, air pollution, radioactivity, abandoned wells and essentially no oversight for a very loose, high-risk, high-payoff industry. The EPA is not helping, there is evidence the negative environmental impact of fracking has been systematically removed from congressional reports as long ago as the Reagan administration. It is the same problem the Cowboy and Indian Alliance is addressing with the Keystone XL pipeline. Why does this same question need to be handled across the country? “Job creation” is a myth, Dominion’s own Chmura study reported the ACP would result in only 39 permanent jobs in all of Virginia. Traveling journeymen crews will install the pipeline, not locals. Areas that already have abundant fracked gas have not seen an increase in business either. Please stand up for Virginia to protect our climate, property rights, safety, quality of life, cultural heritage, favorite vacation spots, water, and biodiversity by keeping Virginia beautiful with it’s shale layers undisturbed. Augusta County recently had two sinkholes suddenly appear after the heavy rains experienced earlier this month. Why is the geology of this area begin ignored by Washington and the Federal agencies that monitor this type of activity. The farms throughout Augusta, Nelson have all experienced issues with sinkholes and the karst topography which is so prevalent throughout these counties. Why are the protests and petitions being ignored by FERC?
