Apologies to dog rescue
UPDATE: No animals are harmed. I am going to close this petition, after clarifying what the deal is. Here is a response I got. None of the events use wildlife. JRTs have been bred to hunt, and the events do use their natural prey drive by having the dogs chase plastic bags on a pulley. I think your petition is well intentioned, Nicole, but extremely misplaced, and your efforts may result in dogs being hurt because we will be unable to afford to pay for veterinary care for the dogs we take in if people become misinformed about our event from reading your petition. It would have been best if you had contacted me before starting the petition. As noted, I am a long time animal rights activist and am happy to explain anything.
Thank you very much for expressing your concerns, Nicole. I share the same concerns about wildlife and all animals and have been involved as an animal rights activist for more than 40 years, including participating in numerous anti-fur demos, anti animal testing demos, petitions, and being vegetarian for years and saving the lives of dogs for more than 20 years, often at great personal expense and sacrifice. I have also taken an extremely active role in helping preserve wildlife that are at risk. Again, I would be happy to go over these activities with you.
I can assure you there are absolutely no events at the Ruckus that are abusive or harmful to animals. I do have to ask what makes you think that? I would be more than happy to set up a call to go over the events with you, or have you over to explain in full all the events. We rely heavily on the money brought in from this event to provide necessary medical care for the many dogs that we save.
All the best,
Jocelyn Dollack
