Over the weekend of May4th-6th, many table games staff noticed an absence of a posted schedule for shifts after May 13th. This means some employees will be expected to work shifts with only 7 days notice rather than the expected 14. As far as we can tell, there is no indication of scheduled shifts uploaded to DayForce™ either (although the physical schedule is the official register regardless). This situation has left employees with no idea as to when their future scheduled shifts are.

Our existing Collective Agreement as section 14.2 clearly states “A work schedule shall be posted two weeks in advance on the Employer's bulletin board for the information of all scheduled employees.”

A timely, well in-advance schedule is not an operational convenience, but rather a requirement under the collective agreement to prevent workplace job action. Although staff are not rigid and unaccommodating to hiccups, we remain unsatisfied as to why this has become a repeated issue this year alone and the staff would like a better one. From a practical point of view, this is of most concern to casual on-call employees who do not own shifts from previous shift selections. However, it affects all the employees operating under the collective agreement, as all parts need to be equally respected and followed. The staff expects an explanation for this contractual failure and re-assurance that this will not become a future issue.
