Campa Mhacha - Application Rejected

Campa Mhacha is an annual event which over 100 Irish speaking children from the Armagh area have attended for over 10 years. Its a fantastic summer scheme which gives children a chance to socially engage with other bilingual children out of the classroom.

It has been claimed that the Royal Mail did not deliver the application form in time and despite a receipt to prove that it was sent in ample time, the funders are not prepared to accept this. It has been claimed that our application form may have been held back as the address was written in Irish, even though it contained building number and postcode.
We regret that 100 young Irish speakers in Armagh will miss out on the opportunity to attend an Irish language summer camp, but unfortunately we have no other option.

Ar an drochuair, maítear dúinn nár sheachaid Oifig an Phoist ár bhfoirm iarratais in am agus cé go bhfuil an admháil againn le cinntiú gur cuireadh sa phost in am é, níl na maoinitheoirí sásta glacadh leis an fhoirm ...iarratais. Maítear gur coinníodh siar é de thairbhe go raibh an seoladh i nGaeilge.
Tá muid iontach buartha go gcaillfidh 100 páiste Gaelscoile amach ar champa samhraidh i mbliana mar gheall air seo, ach níl an dara rogha againn.

We can not be continuously silenced in regards to the Irish language, please let your voice be heard and sign this petition!!

The postal service and the funders are still refusing to take responsibility for this failure. We are currently meeting with local representatives to challenge this blatant disregard for the Irish language.

Having had 3 kids all attended and enjoyed this opportunity to speak Irish amoung friends during summer break... why should this be taken away from any children now!!! Both the kids and representatives put so much effort into this over the years it's just doesn't make sense!!!

Bhí fadhbanna agam féín ar na mallaibh le hOIfig an Phoist mar go raibh seoladh/ainm as Gaeilge ar an bheart. Rinne mé gearán oifigiúil mar gheall ar an dhóigh ar chaith duine de fhoireann Tomb St. liom. Táim den bharúil láidir go raibh rian den seicteachas san obair anseo!

I believe this is a very important benefit for local Irish speaking children in the Armagh area. I had to go to Donegal for such exposure when I grew up in Armagh.

They had the forms sent off in time. It is the fault of Royal Mail, why should the people of Armagh suffer for the negligence of a royal company. The proof of postage is there too. Just give them the funding required and help make the people of our town that little bit happier :)

I am very disappointed to learn that there will be no Campa Mhacha this year in Armagh. My children had attended it for several years and it upsetting for them to think they will not get to participate in it this summer.

This summer camp is not only a brilliant facility for an underprivileged part of Armagh, and a safe haven for children, but also an investment in future tourism, development and partnerships in other parts of Ireland & the U.K.

Yet another convenient mishap of events.... Let's support, highlight and emphasise the importance of the Irish language and help regain and galvanise our culture that Armagh and the north in general has been starved of for such a long period.
