On August 18th, the Arlington School Committee made an important promise: We, the members of the Arlington School Committee, are committed to collegiality, cohesion and compromise to ensure that our children\'s education is not compromised. It\'s not enough for the School Committee to make a commitment to civility, compromise, and a focus on the children. We as a community, we must also make that promise. We must promise to remember that being loud is not always the same as being right, that being right is not always the same as doing good, and that civility will get us farther than incivility. I call upon everyone in Arlington to sign this petition as a promise to set aside old problems and focus on the future and on the children, specifically: We, the members of the Arlington Community, do hereby commit ourselves to collegiality, cohesion and compromise to ensure that our children\'s education is not compromised.
