its high time we should give mentally and financially amount to these sports too and not just cricket

I am not sure why government/jury is not considering the chess player for Arjuna or Khel Ratna award. But we need to give the player their credit. Frankly speaking I was not aware about the many chess player but because in this lockdown I am following Samay Raina you tube channel and I think because of him many people come to know about many chess player and many people following chess. Chess has been big part of our culture and frankly saying they are not getting there dues. People like Vidit, Adiban, the young Nihal is unbelievable and I request our government to please recognise the player otherwise how we are going to motivate our coming generations to take up this sport.

It's necessary

Indian government till now has been very ignorant for Chess game. Chess as a sport should be promoted and Players who have done great at International Levels or are deserved Should be awarded with awards Like Arjuna, Dronachaya as a motivation.

India hasn't gotten an Arjuna Award since 2013. We have a lot of great players who need to receive the award. Hoping for Chess to become back to the forefront of sports in India
