The Arjuna Award is a recognition for outstanding achievement by sports players. So many achievements have been made, so many world class players created, so many laurels won for the country, yet the Government doesn't recognize the contribution of these players. The last one was in 2013 and it has been seven years since then.

Government should give equal importance to the game of Chess.It is sad to see that the prestigious Arjuna Awards, Dronacharya Awards , Rajiv Khel Ratna Award are only given to players of popular sports like Cricket, Football etc. And the game of intelligence is conveniently neglected.Government should also focus on the facilities for the youth as they are the bright future of our nation.

Chess players in India have been giving constantly stellar performances at the top-most level, despite infrastructural issues, no recognition or support. The least the administration can do is show support to these players and boost confidence. Our players deserve so much more, but at least this!
