Chess being one of our own sport should be given as much importance as any other sport in the country. Chess players baring their own expenses is a shameful thing for the nation as not all of them come from a well to do background and chess training being one of the most expensive training on the world. It's high time now we as a country should come forward and support our players in every sport. I request the govt. To kindly recognise these gems of the country and provide them with everything they deserve. Be it the basic facilities for the tournaments or the national awards that would inspire others to take up the sport.

For the amount of hard work they put in and the glory they bring to the nation, they deserve an award.

Our one and only true Indian sport is Chess! Yet, too many dumb politicians and bureaucrats do not understand or accept it. Look, how many mentioned recipients are world class in their achievements? Indian chess players achieved world class recognition, except by few Indians. Also its time Viswanathan Anand gets a Bharat Ratna Award.
