I am starting this petition in regards to the new ARDMS RECERTIFICATION ASSESSMENT PROGRAM which is to start in 2012. Many ultrasonographers have been in this profession for many years and feel that it is unfair to have to be subjected to these exams again. The unfortunate fact, is that many sonographers feel they are too old to have to re-study and this program will force people into early retirement. I feel that it would be more acceptable in the ultrasound community if there was a specific date, such as anyone who was registered before 7/1/2010 is grandfathered in and exempt from these requirements. Please join my crusade and help voice our opinion, if we stand together we will be strong. Fill out your name/ email/ registry number and what credentials you have so that ARDMS can see who we are. As one I am nothing, but if we all join together our voices will be heard.

I have been registered in Abd and OB since 1981. I am now helping to train new graduates sharing my knowledge in the complex realm of obstetrical ultrasound. I too feel that those of us that have been registered before a certain date should be grandfathered in. I am not ready to retire but would consider it if recertification is required. It is an insult to my many many years of dedication to this field to insinuate that I need to be reevaluated for my competency
I registered in 1978. I will be retired by 2019 but need to maintain my certification in order to work part time if necessary. My skills are excellent, yet to remember all of the formulas and fine details to pass a certification exam are dull. This does not affect my competency.

we have so many cme to do and hands on continue education think this is just a burden or extra to keep our jobs

Your daily hands on experience couple with annual cme should be more than enough to keep all sonographers current without additional recertification assessments .
