Or at the very least explain to citizens how this benefits the county.

Please vote against tax abatements for developers. The County will need all the money it can get to repay the debt and operate the county. Tax abatements favor wealthy developers over small businesses and don’t provide tax relief for homeowners. This developer will build anyway and no tax incentive is necessary. Vote against tax abatements.

Tax abatements create an unfair real estate marketplace and sets up system of government picking winners and losers in business. As a property owner burdened with increasing tax payments, I am opposed to tax abatements for wealthy business owners which are pre-selected by the county or city government. The “development plans” and so-called “growth” as presented to voters to justify Propositions on the November ballot (debt for taxpayers) will be shifted to currently existing homeowners as property my owners of tax abatements are given to developers and chain businesses. Business owners and developers must pay their share of taxes, just like individual property owners and small business owners. I am asking my Commissioner to vote AGAINST the proposed tax abatements.

I don't agree with picking and choosing one business over another and subsidizing wealthy people seems insane

Why are our County elected officials picking and choosing who gets these tax abatements and then go and cry that we don't have enough money in taxes so our property values go up. This is a vicious circle that Aransas County Citizens need to thwart!
