An apprenticeship program in a trade is a well-established pathway to self-sufficiency. Without apprenticeship programs, many deserving students who face a multitude of life challenges such as lack of tuition, rural isolation and lack of transportation would be unable to pursue their dreams. There are countless New Mexican people and families who would be positively impacted by the availability of a barber or cosmetology apprenticeship program that would serve as a fast track to a life-long career allowing them to become self-sufficient in caring for themselves and their families while becoming contributing, productive members of their communities.

For the students who want or need an academic environment to learn the trades of barbering and cosmetology, the option of attending a traditional school would still be available.

For those students who would thrive in a less traditional setting and/or who face noted challenges in such a setting, the Apprenticeship Program would provide the option of participating in a licensed Barber/Cosmetology Apprenticeship Program, attending a traditional school or a combination of the two programs.

With the Apprenticeship Program, the needs of all interested students would be met.
