Many of Apple's early 2011 model of Macintosh computers have been recently (up to a year ago, much more frequently in the past 2 months) experiencing issues with their AMD discrete graphics card. This causes the computer to begin to boot normally, and then turn to a blank gray/white screen. If alternative measures are taken (safe boot, recovery boot), the same issue happens and the screen turns blue. There are some temporary fixes that users can use to trick the computer into booting without the graphics card, but then the user has limited functionality.
