There are two Macbook Pros in my household and the other, bought on the same day in December 2010, had its logic board replaced under the AppleCare warranty. I also had the warranty but did not upgrade to Mavericks until much later (September 2014). During my "tune-up" towards the expiry date, my Apple distributor did not alert me to the flaw, so I thought it might be particular to my partner's more heavily used machine. Apple, you earn enough money without exploiting the wishful thinking of a retired book editor!

I own a June 2010 MBP 15" which needs logic board replacement. Apple asks EUR 599, ex VAT.

I am also facing the same problem. I feel as if it so common to have the same problem through out the year in mycase it is july 2014. And my mbp is not reaching 2 years yet.

I am soooo over my Mac restarting itself everytime I try to watch a movie or some other graphics related program, that at the cost of around $600 for a refurbished logic board, I get bad thoughts into my head that I could use that money to buy myself a windows OS computer. Yuk!!

A premium product with premium price should have premium service not the underhanded refusal of fixing a product defect by the manufacturer. Shame on Apple.

I have the 2010 mid i7 15inch MBP and since the Mavericks update my mack stopped working. It was a complete logic board failure and when i took it to the Genius bar i was informed that it was not a replacement plan available
