In the first episode of season 6 for the USA Network show Psych, the main character, Shawn, says the line "Forget about him, or her, or it, if it's transgender." The actor speaking the line, James Roday, the writers, and the network need to understand that it is NEVER ok to degrade a group of people like this under any circumstances. We are human beings and deserve to be treated as such. This petition is to get USA and those involved directly with the show to issue an apology to the Transgender community and make this right.

*Update. I just wanted to add that I talked with Timothy Omundson (Det. Lassiter) and he says that he understands why we are offended by what was said. He has also said that he will pass the word along to everyone else at the show. Our thanks go to him.

*2nd Update
We got a response from James Roday himself during his character chatter session tonight.

"James Roday
Hey Tina -- I honestly don't remember the joke but reading it I agree it was irresponsible and, quite frankly, not funny. I'll apologize on behalf of everyone. It must have been very early in the morning. Shame on me for saying that."

Thank you, James for taking responsibility for what was said and the apology. It is greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind our job is not done though. Things like this happen in more places than just Psych. Please keep signing our petition!

The latest volume of support has signaled a clear mandate for accountability from the network. I am currently formalizing a request for a meeting with USA Network executives to discuss broader policy changes regarding script oversight.

SERIOUSLY glad he apologized. It really sucked to hear that while watching one of my favorite shows.

Glad he finally said something. It was hurtful and definitely not funny like he thought.

Never saw the point in that joke. Just lazy writing.

Took long enough. People need to think before they put stuff like that on tv.

Good move. Glad to see they actually listened to the fans this time.
