We are saddened by the news that Mrs. Hildenbrand will not be teaching the 2016-2017 AP Literature class. While Miss D. may do an outstanding job, the unexpected change has caught many people off guard. Though it may be too late to make changes to the class and/or teacher situation, we wish to voice our opinions. We believe that if nothing else can be done, we should at least have the option to rechoose our courses.

Updates

The administration is still refusing to address our concerns about the sudden change in staff. Call the principal today to demand that students get the choice to adjust their course selection.

The administration is finally taking notice because of the pressure you built here. Post the link to our petition on Facebook right now and email our principal to demand that we get the option to rechoose our courses.

AP Literature is a very hard topic to teach. On top of learning books on books on books inside and out, the teacher must balance writing skills and reading comprehension as well. Mrs. Hildenbrand has done such a good job, that it would be incredibly tough for ANY other teacher to match, regardless of their credentials. Furthermore, she has made the classroom the most fun, coordinated, and friendly learning environment that I have been in 12 plus years of education. This in no way affects me, but it would be a diservice to the underclassmen to replace her at this time.

Ms Hildenbrand was the best AP teacher I've had at LC and certainly prepared me for the test. She doesn't just try to "slide by" as a teacher by sticking a grade on a paper, but rather, she goes above and beyond to ensure her students fully understand the knowledge they had been struggling with. Ms Hildenbrand deserves to continue to teach AP Literature, and will be most effective in preparing students for the AP exam in May.

Love both Ms. D and Mrs. hildenbrand but Mrs. H deserves to teach this class that she loves and pours her heart and soul into. Throughout all four years at LC, Mrs. H was the absolute best teacher that I have had. This course has best prepared me for college throughout all that Mrs. Hildenbrand does for her students through essays, editing the essays, projects, handouts, and guest speakers. I have taken a lot of AP courses at LC and Mrs. H went above and beyond to prepare me for that test far more than any other AP teacher has. Love that woman.

I have AP Literature this year with Mrs. Hildenbrand. I can honestly say there is no teacher at LC who has better prepared me for my entry into college than her. She has helped me with countless papers and corrected many essays for my applications. She is also one of the kindest teachers here. We are a Learning Community, Living in Christ, and she has embodied that throughout her time as a teacher. I have nothing against Ms. D; however, I believe Mrs. Hildenbrand deserves to teach the class she loves and has proven time and time again she is more than qualified to teach.

I have nothing against Ms. D, but she has only has three years of experience teaching. Ms. Hildenbrand is the ideal teacher for AP lit and she is the prime choice to be helping seniors especially, since they will be writing college essays and that is where she excels. I took this class expecting Hildenbrand, and stand by that she is a more well suited teacher for the class.

While I was not in Eileen T. Hildebrand's AP Literature class during my time at Lansdale Catholic, I had her for my first English class as a freshman. It is safe to say that I had a wonderful experience having her as my teacher and she positively impacted my life more ways than one. As an LC alum, I can understand how these students may feel and want to support them!

Mrs. H is much more qualified with many more years of service to the LC community. She is very hard working and is great at preparing her students for college.
