Being a woman has nothing to do with how you feel or what you wear. It's not an identity because women cannot identify out of women's issues. Erasing women as a sex based class erases the rights that women fought long and hard for. Basic rights - like the right to ask for a female doctor for intimate exams or after rape care are being removed. The right to undress without males present is being erased. Any laws have the word woman in them become invalid because anyone can claim womanhood and therefore voyeuristic crimes can no longer be prosecuted. This is deeply offensive, insensitive and dangerous. It's misogyny, pure and simple.

I have no issue with anybody being transgender and believe in rights for all. I also believe that women should be respected for wanting their bioglogy, terminology and spaces protected. We are not "CIS" we are Adult, human females. What about women who are from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, who for cultural or religious reasons cannot share spaces with male bodied people? What about women who have suffered from male violence and feel unsafe around male bodied people? We need a THIRD space for transgender and nonbinary people not a colonization of women's spaces.
