The reason for the focus on Women in STEM is that they are an underrepresented minority in this area. By including 'anyone who identifies as a woman' in this category, we can no longer determine if any of the efforts to increase representation of women in STEM are successful. The data becomes meaningless and the efforts required to increase participation of women at senior levels in STEM will be diluted. Thanks for the wording of the petition. It summarises the issue perfectly.

The definition of woman is adult human female, female is a sex class, trans woman is a gender. They are not the same. If a trans woman is a woman then they are no longer trans therefore they are a male. This is an utter Disgrace and insulting and damaging to all women. If trans women are women, why is there no push to redefine the definition of man to include trans men. This is utter misogyny at the highest level.
