Most Reverend Gustavo García-Siller:

With contrite hearts we pray that you will hear the requests of your flock. For ten years the Antonian community has been adversely affected by the lack of stability that comes from constant changes in senior administrators. Today’s release of Dr. Monica Ruiz-Mills will bring a 4th Principal to Antonian in as many years, and six in the last decade. Several appeals have been made to your Eminence to hold the interests of our children close to your heart. It is our prayer to the Blessed Mother that this one will be answered.

We pray for your intercession on behalf of our children and grant us two requests. The first is a town hall audience between your clerical designee and the superintendent with the parents of the entire Antonian community invited. Parents deserve to be heard and understand these tumultuous decisions and not have information filtered through informal channels.

The second request intends to resolve the true nature of the problems of the last decade. In conjunction with a third-party arbiter, we ask that an elected School Board be established and bestowed limited authorities from the Diocese to assist the school and diocese in providing stability and the best Catholic education for our children.

These requests are immediate and should coincide with full autonomy over the search committee for our next principal, be codified with a 501c3 status, dually administered with the Archdiocese of San Antonio, and independently elected by the current parents of students in good standing at Antonian College Preparatory High School.

Sincerely,

The Antonian Community

We are a new family and very concerned as this decision comes during our transition between 8th grade and freshman year.

APC needs strong and stable leadership. Four Principals in four years has only a negative impact in the community. We need strong structure.

I liked Mrs. Mills as principal. She listened to us when we had problems, and had gone out of her way to ask students what we liked and didn’t like about the school. I personally really liked her as a principal and respected her a lot for this. I don’t believe anyone working at the school could achieve that level of respect from me if they replace her.

Our kids deserve stability in their education and a safe place to attend school. Dr. Ruiz-Mills has helped provide both. The campus looks better than it has in years. This news of her release is distressing to me as a parent.

Please investigate the termination of Dr Mills contract to not return in 2024/2025 school year As a first year experience family to ACP the leadership has been only the best experience. The change of leadership year after year is not positive for the students and over commitment to ACP.

Parent of two Antonian students who would like to have Dr. Mills contract renewed. Parent who has heard directly from students of the sadness to see her let go. Education should never be a political toll.

Dr. Mills was robbed of an opportunity she deserved. I implore you to bring her back.

I'm sick of great principles who actually CARE about students being fired. She cared for our dreams, our hopes. She was a kind adult who did not look down on us because we're children. She respected us so much, and it made all the students respect her in turn. It's INCREDIBKLY difficult to get teenagers to do much, but as far as I know all students at Antonian honestly, truly liked Dr. Mills. As Samuel Johnson said, "The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good."
