I was a member of the original iteration, ASHN. Paltry fees, a lot of denials was common. They seem to specialize in helping insurance companies provide the LOWEST cost CAM while leaving providers not able to cover the expenses of CEUs, malpractice, office overhead etc.

Dealing with ASH is like getting into a codependent relationship with an abusive person. They're a terrible company to work with, the decrease in pay is unsustainable, and the extra paperwork causes all to have to work unpaid overtime. I've had a great relationship with Blue Shield until now, please don't ruin it by trying to force me to sign up with ASH.

It’s really unfairly to treat acupuncturist with lower compensation. Acupuncture treatment can help patients in multiple diseases, some disease even western doctor can’t help, but acupuncturist does.

I have been underpaid by ASH as a practitioner for years and also have had my claims as a patient myself denied by them. There is nothing redeeming about ASH. Good riddance.

For almost 30 years, ASH never raise the premium paid to acupuncturist. It’s not fair.

This is ridiculous. How can you continue to cut reimbursement to us and expect us to survive as providers.

I used to spend a lot of time preparing the document and forms in order to bill ASH. And to be honest, they denied most of my claims and requested more document. I ended up receiving a check paying me $76. With all the time and efforts I put in the billing process. It was an insult to me and my profession. So, I didn't even cash the check. Since then, I have never billed ASH again. Too bag for people having ASH handling their acupuncture claims. Because of ASH, those people lost lots of opportunities to get quality care from acupuncturists like me.

ASH is a detriment to the public ,who receive very poor and limited coverage as well as deceiving information. In addition practitioners are severely underpaid and required to submit endless paperwork just to help patients receive the insurance & care they are entitled to but often do not receive from ASH. ASH is a monopoly that restricts the public from receiving the care they need and corrupts the practice of medicine. It needs to be dismantled.
